OBBBAcheck is built around a simple principle: we show you your real numbers, including FICA taxes that other calculators hide. The same commitment to honesty applies to how we handle your data.
What we do NOT collect
Your calculator inputs — income figures, filing status, state — are processed entirely in your browser and on our servers to render your results page. We do not store, log, or transmit your income data to any third party. We never collect Social Security numbers, employer information, or any personally identifiable financial data.
Analytics
We use PostHog for product analytics. PostHog collects anonymized usage data — page views, button clicks, calculator completion rates — to help us improve the tool. No income data or calculator results are included in analytics events. You can opt out of analytics tracking via your browser's "Do Not Track" setting or a privacy-focused browser extension.
Email newsletter
If you choose to subscribe to OBBBA update emails, we store your email address in our database solely to send you relevant updates about tax law changes. We do not sell, rent, or share your email address with third parties. You can unsubscribe at any time via the link in any email we send.
Cookies
We use cookies for analytics (PostHog) and sessionStorage to remember your calculator progress within a browser session. SessionStorage is cleared automatically when you close the tab. We do not use advertising cookies or cross-site tracking cookies.
Third-party services
We use Vercel for hosting, Sanity CMS for state conformity data, PostHog for analytics, and Supabase for optional email subscriber storage. Each of these services has its own privacy policy governing the data they process.
Data retention
Email subscriber records are retained until you unsubscribe. We do not retain any calculator input or result data after your session ends. Analytics data is retained according to PostHog's default data retention settings.
Your rights
You may request deletion of your email address at any time by contacting us. Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have additional rights under applicable privacy law (including CCPA for California residents and GDPR for EU residents). Contact us to exercise any of these rights.
Changes to this policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Material changes will be noted at the top of this page with an updated date. Continued use of OBBBAcheck after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
